Milk & Meat Supply Chain Improvement

End-to-end value chain improvements — cold chain infrastructure, processing facilities, and market linkages — to reduce post-production losses and increase income for Pakistan’s livestock farmers.

Project Profile

From Farm Gate to Consumer — Closing the Efficiency Gap

Despite producing significant volumes of milk and meat, Pakistan loses a substantial share of livestock output to poor post-production handling, inadequate cold chain infrastructure, and fragmented market systems. Only around 3% of milk produced in Pakistan is formally processed.

This project tackled the full supply chain — from milk collection and chilling at village level, through processing and value addition, to retail and export market linkages — to improve quality, reduce waste, and increase farmer incomes.
